mercury glass candlestick

we have a little house in south carolina that has no phone & no internet & no cell phone service.

we do have satellite tv now, but shelly’s nephew set it up, so it has no hgtv & no tlc but you can see all the nascar & hunting shows you want! whoopee!

but anyway --------- the reason for mentioning all of this is --------------when we go there, it’s a great time for catching up on reading & quiet time.

we were there for thanksgiving so i loaded up on christmas magazines to read.

in one of them, i read about KRYLON LOOKING GLASS MIRROR-LIKE PAINT.

i got so excited. it said you could make mercury glass looking things. so i looked all over the place while i was there. both walmarts, the one hobby lobby & the one lowes store. actually, there are 3 (yes, three) walmart stores within 30 miles of our house there. anyway, couldn’t find it. came home to ohio, started looking for the paint. finally, last week on a 2nd trip to michaels, i found it. across the aisle from the craft paint, on a bottom shelf. i was so excited. good thing i had a 40% off coupon because it was 11.99!!!!!! but i bot it! because it said you could make mercury glass looking things. i love mercury glass looking things! see - here’s a few -

so i gave it a try on a glass candlestick. you spray the underneath or inside of your object with 5 or more coats waiting 1 minute between each coat.

i think i could have sprayed a few more coats & will go back & do a few more after christmas. i think it really gives a great look!

here you can see the difference between the “un-mercuried” & the painted.

i’m looking forward to playing around some more with this paint & hope if any of you try it, you’ll let me know. i’m not the craftiest crafter or even a good painter but i do love mercury glass !

i’m linking up with kimba

merry christmas!

& peace-

Oooh, I want that! (I sound like my 2 yr old grandson) I've never seen that and I was looking for glass paint a couple months ago when I painted 100 - yes, 100- wine glasses for charity. I'll go online, if I have to. Thanks so much for sharing!
Have a wonderful holiday.
