had the girls(my two daughters & two daughters-in-love) over this past saturday for a Christmas Tea. it was so nice to spend some time with just them: no hubbies, no babies, just girls.
there’s always something going on around here & last week it was painting. christmas decorations came down so that the paint could go on the walls & then i had to redecorate to get ready for the tea. (my son had a free week & i had the walls that needed painted. what a great combination!) the walls look beautiful now but it’s a miracle that i was ready when they arrived on saturday, and i was!
here’s a few photos from the tea:
the menu:
ham & swiss & turkey & swiss on parker house rolls (how appropriate!)
egg salad sandwiches
Nancy’s Spirals (from sam’s club)
pumpkin, cinnamon swirl, butter rum breads (from sam’s club)
strawberries & melon
iced sugar cookies (the frozen shaped ready to bake kind from GFS)
whipped cream filled chocolate shells with chocolate covered cranberries
chocolate chip, mixed berry, & cinnamon scones from The Bread Basket (a local bakery)
pellegrino sparkling water
strawberry & pomegranate sparkling water
assorted teas (thanks, jean, for being in charge of the tea)
(i totally forgot to take a picture of the tea table!) or of jean & carrie (but they really were there!)
for favors: i filled little ornament bags with gift tags made on my cricut, an acorn ornament & i made Christmas Story booklets.
i saw the idea in a new magazine called life:beautiful (lifebeautifulmagazine.com) on page 47. i love giving scripture favors and everyone loves receiving them, too!
i typed out Luke 2 in 4 text boxes (i used microsoft publisher) & then printed & cut each text box to 4x6. the cover says: He is Born Luke 2:1-20. and then the next 3 pages have the verses. i punched a hole in the corner & put a ribbon through it.
this would be such a sweet favor for a large family gathering on Christmas Eve. so easy to make, but oh so special!
so happy to be joining kimba for another diy day at a soft place to land
peace -
